By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating the death of a young child in Belize City, 6-year-old King Shakeel Wade.
A neighborhood babysitter reported that she had left Wade seated on an old refrigerator while she attended to the other children in her care. Around 3:30 p.m., one of Wade’s siblings went looking for him when they were informed by another minor that Wade had fallen into the canal.
At 4:30 p.m., a search for Wade commenced. They later found his slipper near the canal. At 6:15 p.m., Wade’s lifeless body was found in the canal.
He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
