With Team USA’s gold-medal win in the women’s team event, Biles has now surpassed Shannon Miller’s record, becoming the American gymnast with the most Olympic medals ever.
Biles, who was previously tied with Miller at seven Olympic medals, now holds a total of eight, with the possibility of adding four more as she competes in the individual events of beam, floor, vault, and all-around.
In the women’s team event, Biles played a pivotal role in securing Team USA’s first gold medal in this category since the 2016 Rio Games.
Her standout performance included a breathtaking floor routine showcasing her signature moves, the Biles I and Biles II.
Despite minor errors, including stepping out of bounds twice, Biles scored an impressive 14.666, contributing significantly to the team’s gold-medal finish.
Her teammates—Suni Lee, Jade Carey, and Jordan Chiles—also delivered stellar performances, solidifying the team’s top spot on the podium.
This Olympic appearance marks Biles’ third Games.
At Rio 2016, she earned four gold medals and one bronze.
In Tokyo, she added a silver and a bronze to her collection despite facing challenges with her mental health that limited her participation.
With more events ahead, Biles is poised to further extend her record and add to her illustrious Olympic career.
