By Aaron Humes: In the early hours of today, Sunday, police in the Toledo District launched an investigation into a violent incident that resulted in two brothers suffering from serious stab wounds.

Police received a call around 3:00 a.m. reporting that two injured men were being transported to Punta Gorda Hospital. 28-year-old Steven Pop required urgent treatment for multiple cut wounds to his neck. His brother, 30-year-old Roberto Pop from Crique Jute Village, was also admitted with significant facial injuries, including stab wounds to his cheek and a laceration beneath his eye and on his nose.

According to police reports, the altercation reportedly stemmed from an argument involving the brothers and their sister after the group had been socializing in San Antonio Village, Toledo District. Investigators learned from Roberto Pop that as they attempted to leave, their sister intervened and allegedly attacked them with a broken bottle.

Police have detained the brothers’ 27-year-old sister as the investigation continues.
