By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Meteorological Service of Belize says moist and unstable conditions will persist today, bringing early morning rainfall followed by a gradual decrease later in the day.
Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies with intervals of cloudiness, while a few showers and isolated thunderstorms will affect southern and coastal regions this morning. Conditions will improve by afternoon, but rain and thunderstorm activity is expected to return overnight, mainly along the coastal belt.
Winds will blow from the east-southeast at 10 to 20 knots, producing choppy seas with wave heights between 3 and 5 feet.
Daytime highs are forecast at 85°F along the coast, 86°F inland, and 77°F in elevated areas. Overnight lows will drop to 79°F on the coast, 75°F inland, and 68°F in the hills.
The tropical weather outlook remains calm for Belize, with Tropical Storm Jerry currently positioned about 835 miles east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. The storm is moving west-northwest at 23 mph with maximum winds of 50 mph, and the system poses no threat to Belize.
Looking ahead to Thursday, forecaster Tareek Matthews notes that skies will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorms, increasing slightly Thursday night over northern areas.
Tides today: High tide occurs at 11:00 a.m., low tide at 4:31 p.m., followed by another high tide at 10:22 p.m. Tomorrow’s low tide will be at 5:38 a.m.
The sun rises at 5:44 a.m. and sets at 5:35 p.m., while the moon sets at 7:09 a.m. and rises at 6:50 p.m.
