By Breaking Belize News Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize is warning residents to brace for an increase in showers and thunderstorms today, as a moist and unstable easterly airflow dominates the country’s weather.
Forecasters say that while the day may start with isolated showers, these are expected to increase in intensity and coverage—especially over northern and central areas during the course of today. Tonight, rain and thunderstorms will affect most areas, with heavier downpours forecasted over the south.
The outlook for Thursday calls for cloudy to overcast skies and more widespread rain and thunderstorms.
Marine conditions are also becoming increasingly hazardous. Winds are expected to intensify, with gusts contributing to rough seas and wave heights between 7 to 9 feet. A small craft caution is in effect, and operators are advised to stay in safe harbor where possible.
High temperatures today will peak at 85°F on the coast, 86°F inland, and 77°F in the hills. Tonight’s lows will range from 78°F along the coast to 65°F in higher elevations.
Motorists and commuters are advised to drive carefully in wet conditions and avoid flooded areas. Stay alert and follow updates from the National Met Service and local officials.
