By Aaron Humes: A shooting incident on Orange Street on Saturday afternoon has left a local transport evaluator in critical condition. The victim, identified as Calvin Cumberbatch, 44, was shot multiple times in what police are describing as a violent altercation.
Witnesses indicated that the confrontation began with an argument between Cumberbatch and another man, identified as Travis Flowers, 45, a Belize City Council Enforcement Officer. During the altercation, Flowers allegedly retrieved a licensed firearm and fired shots at Cumberbatch, striking him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Flowers was later detained by authorities while still in possession of his licensed weapon. Cumberbatch remains hospitalized but is reported to be in stable condition. The matter remains under investigation.
