Shooting incident in Sand Hill Village leaves homeowner with property damage

By Aaron Humes: In the early hours of this morning, Monday, a resident of Sand Hill Village, Belize District, reported a shooting incident that resulted in significant damage to his home. The homeowner of Mile 18 Phillip Goldson Highway was awakened around 2:50 AM by the sound of what he described as five loud bangs resembling gunshots.

Upon exiting his concrete bungalow, he discovered that the glass window of his bedroom had been shattered. Further investigation revealed five apparent bullet holes in his front glass door, which faces the busy highway. Inside, there was damage to his bed and bedroom wall consistent with gunfire.

The total cost of damages has yet to be determined. Police responded quickly, canvassing the area; an investigation is underway, the precise details surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
