By Aaron Humes: Police are currently investigating the shooting death of 37-year-old Marco Miranda, a businessman from Los Lagos, Ladyville, Belize District. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 25, at approximately 8:46 PM, in the Los Lagos community.
According to police reports, Miranda was at home with his wife and their three children when an unknown assailant forcibly entered their residence. They were seated in the living room around 8:30 PM when the front door was violently kicked open. A person dressed entirely in black and concealing their face with a rag entered and fired multiple shots at Marco, striking him in the body.
The gunman fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Miranda was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at 9:17 PM.
Police have yet to establish a motive for the shooting and are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward. Police continue their investigation.
The body of Marco Miranda has been transported to the KHMH morgue, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
