By Aaron Humes: A late-night shooting in Belize City has left a 25-year-old mechanic in critical condition after being targeted while parked in his vehicle on the corner of Kraal Road and Reggae Street.
At approximately 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening, Shawn Nolberto, of Hibiscus Street, was seated in the driver’s seat of a blue and gold Ford F-150 pickup truck when a male assailant, described as having a dark complexion and dressed in dark clothing with his face covered, approached him. Eyewitnesses reported that the suspect pointed a firearm at Nolberto and opened fire, hitting him several times.
Arnel Copious, a 25-year-old pump attendant who was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of the incident, witnessed the attack. Nolberto was hired to provide freight service to Copious.
Nolberto was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) with serious gunshot wounds. Medical staff at KHMH confirmed that Nolberto was currently in critical condition and undergoing surgery.
Police investigations continue. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
