By Aaron Humes: Police have confirmed the death of 23-year-old Simon Francis Arana Jr., a beloved local teacher, following a shooting incident on Monday night, February 10.
Authorities were alerted to the scene at approximately 8:25 p.m. after reports of gunfire rang out in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered the motionless body of Arana on the verandah of a residence, beginning an immediate investigation.
Initial findings indicate that Arana was socializing with friends at the home when the gunshots erupted, leading to his untimely death. The investigation is ongoing.
Community members have expressed their grief over the loss of a young educator, who worked at the district Institute for Vocational Education and Training (ITVET), whose contributions to local schools were well-regarded.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in their inquiries. More updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
