By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating a road traffic accident that left a motorcyclist hospitalized in the Orange Walk District.
On Monday, January 12, 2026, police officers conducted a follow-up visit at the Northern Regional Hospital, where they observed a male patient receiving treatment for head injuries and facial bruises. The injured man was identified as Heinrich Braun, 33, a Belizean mechanic of Shipyard Village.
Braun told police that the accident occurred on Sunday, January 11, 2026, around 7:00 p.m., while he was riding a red AKT 150 motorcycle from Camp 9 Shipyard Village toward Guinea Grass Village. He reported that an oncoming vehicle with high-beam headlights caused him to lose control, resulting in a collision with the rear of a horse cart.
The motorcycle sustained damage to the front rim and wheel, the left handle, and the left side mirror. At this time, the extent of damage to the horse cart or possible injuries to other persons remains unknown.
Braun was issued a medico-legal form and was later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for further observation.
