Demonstrating its continued commitment to community welfare, Shell San Ignacio on Tuesday donated a 5L Dynarex Oxygen Concentrator to the Belize Cancer Society (BCS) – San Ignacio Branch.
The contribution forms part of an ongoing partnership aimed at improving the care and comfort of palliative patients across the Cayo District.
The medical device, which operates using electricity and purified water, provides a concentrated flow of oxygen for individuals experiencing respiratory difficulties.
By separating oxygen from nitrogen in the air, the concentrator delivers oxygen levels between 90 and 95 percent—significantly higher than normal atmospheric levels—helping patients with chronic or end-stage conditions breathe more easily.
According to the BCS San Ignacio Branch, oxygen therapy plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of life for palliative patients, offering relief from breathlessness and ensuring comfort and dignity during their final stages of life.
This latest donation adds to the 6 oxygen concentrators already in use by the branch, expanding its capacity to meet growing community needs.
The Belize Cancer Society expressed heartfelt gratitude to Shell San Ignacio for its compassion and continued support of local healthcare initiatives.
