By Breaking Belize News Staff: Shawn Lincoln Cook, 33, began a three-month jail sentence on Monday after pleading guilty to keeping ammunition without a gun license. Cook, a fisherman, was found with a live 12-gauge cartridge during a police search on May 16.
Despite requesting leniency to care for his son, Cook was sentenced by a Senior Magistrate in Court #6. Cook, who was unrepresented, claimed the cartridge was a keepsake from Guatemala he had possessed since age 14. Previously, Cook had been out on bail for charges of taking a vehicle without permission and property damage.
