Born in Corozal Town and currently residing in Lord’s Bank Village, Young has served in the BDF for 12 years and has risen to the rank of Corporal through dedication and professional commitment.
Young completed her studies at the University of Glasgow, where she was awarded a Master of Public Health with merit on December 11, 2025, specialising in health promotion.
During her academic year, she actively participated in professional development lectures and seminars, earning the Graduate Skills Award from the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences.
The award recognizes postgraduate students who demonstrate strong workplace readiness through skills-based learning, workshops, and community engagement.
In addition to her academic achievements, Young volunteered with several organizations in Glasgow, including the Greater Pollock community garden, Byres Community Hub, the International Welcome Club, and Oxfam at Royal Exchange Square.
Young now plans to return to Belize to continue serving the BDF, where she hopes to apply her new expertise to strengthen prevention and health promotion programmes, with a focus on managing leishmaniasis, non-communicable diseases, and mental health among soldiers.
