Born and raised in the heart of Queen Square, Shane Williams’ commitment to community service and creating opportunities for youths has taken him from the corner of Kraal Road and Kut Avenue to all across the world.

Shane’s devotion to community service started from he was twelve years old and appointed to the Committee on the Rights of a Child in 1998 to work with other students on Belize’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child.

In high school he excelled at both sports and academics. After graduating with a Diploma in Arts and Science from St. John’s College, he made the Belize National Softball team at the age of 16 and started volunteering to coach high school softball at SJC and St. Catherine’s Academy shortly after.

He completed international coaching programs in Belize and Mexico City through the Pan American Sports Organization, was named assistant coach of the Junior National Softball Program at the age of 22 and dedicated five years to the program.

In 2011 he was invited to the International Olympic Academy Young Participants Program in Olympia, Greece. With the support of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association, he was able to study the Ideals of Olympism and the Impact of the Olympic Movement on national development. This network equipped him with lessons on community sports development best practices around the world. In 2018 he was elected President of the Belize City Softball Association and forged relationships with international charity organizations that have provided Belize with over $70,000 in sporting gears, benefiting over two dozen schools and youth institutions. Shane is also a member of the Change Up Sports organization with who he helps to organize donations and training for youths in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

With a degree in English from the University of Belize, he has worked for 16 years as a reporter for the Guardian Newspaper, Public Relations Manager at the Belize City Council and Public Relations Coordinator of the United Democratic Party.
