Senior Immigration officer charged for assault following altercation at Western Border

By Breaking Belize News Staff: On Monday, May 6, Breaking Belize News reported on an incident involving an Immigration officer and a woman at the Western Border.

The woman was reportedly injured and had to be transported for medical treatment.

Authorities have now formally charged Senior Immigration officer, Saul Lisbey.

The victim, Teresa Jones had reportedly complained about the officer taking too long to stamp her passport.

Lisbey then exited his booth, approached Jones, and forcibly pushed her to the ground, rendering her unconscious.

Subsequently, she was hospitalized for treatment.

The Immigration Department initiated an investigation, leading to Lisbey’s suspension from duty.

He was arrested and formally charged with wounding last Wednesday.
