Senior Courts of Belize Announces Court Adjournments

The Hon. Chief Justice of Belize wishes to inform the public that, in light of the impending effects of Hurricane Beryl, the Belize High Court cases across the country of Belize will be adjourned from Wednesday, July 3, 2024, up until Monday, July 8, 2024, with the exception of Bail which is scheduled to be heard on the morning of the 3rd July, 2024. This decision has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all court Judges, staff, jurors, attorneys, and the public.

Details of Adjournments:

• Effective Dates: All court cases (with the exception of Bail Applications) scheduled from July 3, 2024, to July 8, 2024, will be adjourned.
• Rescheduling of Cases: Cases affected by this adjournment will be rescheduled, and new dates will be communicated to all relevant parties in due course.

• Court Operations: Normal court operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, barring any further impact from the hurricane.
• In exceptional Circumstances the Senior Court will be available to hear urgent matters once the circumstance permit.

We urge all court users to stay informed through official channels and to adhere to any further advisories issued by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).
