By Breaking Belize News Staff: Robert Norman Goff, a 66-year-old welder from Belize City, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison on Wednesday after he was unable to post an $800 bail set by the court. Goff pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled drug after he was found with 0.01 grams of crack cocaine.
In Court #7, Goff, who represented himself, stated, “The police, they nuh find deh ting on me.” According to the police report, however, officers conducting a patrol had stopped Goff near a known drug area on West Collet Canal and allegedly found the cocaine hidden in his mouth.
The court granted bail with conditions that he not be charged with further drug-related offenses and attend all future court dates. Goff, unable to meet the bail requirement, was remanded to prison until December 23, 2024, his next court appearance.
