By Breaking Belize News Staff: A second suspect accused in the theft of a laptop and other items valued at $4,090 has been arraigned and remanded to prison after bail was denied.

Ryan Herbert, a 27-year-old mechanic ofPeter Seco Street, Belize City, appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2, where he was read a single charge of theft. Herbert pleaded not guilty. Although there was no objection to bail, the Senior Magistrate denied it, citing the prevalence of theft offenses nationwide. Herbert was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until February 27, 2026.

Herbert now joins his co-accused, Josh Flowers, also 27, a construction worker who was arraigned on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Flowers was likewise denied bail after the prosecution objected, pointing to his history of failing to appear in court on other matters, making him a flight risk.

Police allege that on Friday, January 9, 2026, the duo, along with another man still at large, dishonestly appropriated property while on Manatee Drive. The items reportedly stolen include a black laptop valued at $100; a silver Apple MacBook valued at $3,500; an Apple-brand reader valued at $40; an unknown-brand USB hub valued at $150, and assorted stationery items valued at $390, bringing the total to $4,090.

The owner reported to the Crimes Investigation Branch that around 10:00 a.m. on January 9, he left his laptop on the stairs of his home and went inside to print documents. About eight minutes later, he was alerted by his dog barking and observed a slim-built, dark-complexioned male wearing a white T-shirt, black jeans, and a helmet exiting his yard with the laptop. When the owner shouted, the suspect fled down Manatee Drive toward Golding Street.

Surveillance footage later showed the suspect being dropped off by another helmeted male riding a red motorcycle resembling a 100 Meilun. The following day, January 10, officers reviewed the footage and positively identified Flowers as the rider. The second suspect seen entering the yard was identified by police but remains at large.

Police detained Flowers the same day and conducted searches at his residence on Consuelo Street and at his girlfriend’s home on Prince Street. While no stolen items were recovered, officers found a white tennis shoe and a black helmet resembling those seen in the footage.

Herbert is due back in court on February 20, 2026, while Flowers remains on remand pending further proceedings.
