By Breaking Belize News Staff: A second suspect has been arraigned and remanded to prison in connection with a firearm assault incident that occurred earlier this month in Belize City.
Melroy Matthew Pelayo, a barber of Neal’s Pen Road, appeared unrepresented on Monday afternoon before a Magistrate in Court #3, where he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm upon two men.
Pelayo pleaded not guilty to the charges; however, due to the nature of the offenses, bail was denied. He was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until his next court date on May 21, 2026.
Pelayo now joins Demarion Lamb, 21, who was arraigned on Monday, March 16, 2026 on the same charges and similarly remanded.
Police say the charges stem from an alleged gunplay incident that occurred on March 16, 2026 in Belize City.
