By Aaron Humes: A second motorcycle accident was reported on Saturday on the Hummingbird Highway, with the driver suffering fatal injuries.
As detailed by ACP Hilberto Romero of National Crimes Investigation Branch, “…police responded to another accident on the Hummingbird Highway between miles 48 and 49. Upon their arrival, they saw, again, a motorcycle with damages. A male person was seen in the area unconscious. He was identified as Jorge Gonzalez. Gonzalez was taken for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigation revealed that Gonzalez was riding his motorcycle. He lost control. He fell to the street, [which] is what caused his injuries.”
While this and the incident in Cayo remain under investigation, ACP Romero identified the leading causes of crashes such as these: “Some of it is attributed to speeding. Some to alcohol. So, [an] investigation is being carried out to determine what caused these accidents.”
