By Aaron Humes: A second fatal shooting incident unfolded on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old man in Belize City. The victim, identified as Moses Almendarez Sr., was pronounced dead just 25 minutes after the attack took place.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 7:20 PM as Almendarez was riding his bicycle along Hercilett Moody Street, heading towards Vernon Card Street. Two male suspects emerged from a nearby bushy area and opened fire, striking Almendarez multiple times.
Almendarez was rushed to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for medical treatment. He was pronounced dead at 7:45 PM by medical staff.
Police have begun an investigation and are currently in the process of reviewing surveillance footage from nearby cameras in hopes of identifying the suspects, who fled the scene towards Vernon Card Street.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and police are continuing their investigation.
