By Aaron Humes: Police are stepping up efforts to locate 64-year-old Alfred Pleil, a Canadian national who has been missing for over a week. Pleil, who had been residing in the Indianville area, was reported missing after he failed to appear at his regular dining spots and was last seen in Punta Gorda.

National Crime Investigation Branch, led by ACP Hilberto Romero, shared details with the press on Monday. “We received information about a week ago that he had not gone to eat where he usually dines. He has not been seen since in Punta Gorda,” Romero stated. The police discovered Pleil’s vehicle abandoned in the area, but police shot down rumors circulating in the community suggested that Pleil had been found in a shallow grave: “That is incorrect. He has not been found at this time. The only thing we found is his car in Punta Gorda.”

The investigation has included interviews with Pleil’s friends in the area, as police work tirelessly to uncover any leads. “He used to hang out with some friends in Punta Gorda. Those persons have been interviewed, but we have no leads as to his whereabouts at this time,” Romero added.

Anyone with information regarding Alfred Pleil’s whereabouts is urged to contact police or Crimestoppers at 922.
