By Horace Palacio: Forecasters say Monday, May 5th will bring mainly fair and warm weather across the country, with inland temperatures soaring to a blazing 97°F (36°C). The National Meteorological Service has issued a Heat Alert, especially for inland areas, urging residents to stay hydrated, minimize sun exposure, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.
While the coast and hills will experience slightly milder temps (coastal high of 89°F, hills around 84°F), the real danger is inland. Farmers, construction workers, and outdoor vendors are especially at risk.
The sea state is expected to remain calm, with light chop and 2–4 ft waves, while marine winds from the east will blow at 5–15 knots. No significant showers are expected—just a few isolated ones, if any.
Tuesday brings similar conditions, so plan accordingly. Stay cool, stay safe, and don’t underestimate the tropical heat this week.
