By Breaking Belize News Staff: Moist and gusty easterly winds are blowing through Belize today, bringing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to several parts of the country. The National Meteorological Service has reported that a moderately moist airflow will dominate the conditions for the next 24 hours, with occasional cloudy spells throughout the day and into the night.
Central and northern Belize can expect brief periods of rain and isolated thunderstorms during the daytime, while southern Belize should prepare for increased activity heading into the evening. Elsewhere, weather conditions are forecast to remain generally dry, though an isolated shower cannot be ruled out.
At sea, caution is advised. Winds are blowing from the east at 10 to 20 knots, with gusty intervals. The sea state will shift from moderate to moderate-rough as the day progresses, and wave heights are expected to climb from 4–6 feet to as much as 5–7 feet. Small crafts should monitor updates closely, especially later today and into Monday.
Despite the rain potential, temperatures will remain high. Inland areas will peak at 93°F (34°C), while coastal regions will stay around 87°F (31°C). Hill areas will be cooler at around 81°F (27°C). The nighttime lows range from 66°F (19°C) in the hills to 81°F (27°C) on the coast.
No tropical cyclone formation is expected in the Atlantic Basin over the next 48 hours, but BBN will continue monitoring any new systems that may emerge.
Looking ahead to Monday, more showers and thunderstorms are expected over central and southern areas, with isolated activity elsewhere. Stay alert and keep your umbrellas close.
