By Jose Luis Cruz: Last night Breaking Belize News (BBN) reported that two persons were shot at in Corozal, and that one of the victims died as a result of the injuries sustained.
BBN has since confirmed that the incident occurred in the Rainbow Beach area of Corozal town and the victim has been identified as Santos ‘Antonio’ Escobar Sr.
Escobar Sr. and his son were outside their home when they were approached and shot at by the gunman. Escobar Sr. received multiple gunshot injuries and was rushed to the Corozal Community Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
It is not yet known whether Santos Escobar Sr. or his son was the intended target, however early indications are that the shooter may have known the victims.
Police are investigating this latest murder.
