By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Santa Familia and Hillview won on Wednesday in the Mayor Earl Trapp Christmas Cup Over 40 Division in San Ignacio and advanced to the semifinals.
Santa Familia beat Jaguars 5-3 on Wednesday night at the Falcon Field in San Ignacio to advance to the Over 40 Quarterfinals. Roy Cano scored a hat trick while ‘Gato’ Guerra and Lionel Carias converted one each. Angel, Elijah, and Ever scored for Jaguars.
Hillview qualified by virtue of a 6-5 win over Benque. ‘Tilapia’ scored a hat trick, ‘Samoo’ converted a brace and John Robateau scored the there goal for Hillview.
Santa Familia will now play the Cayo FA Wolverines in the semifinals. Hillview will play Cayo Generals/Nexgen in the other semifinals.
In the Under 21 Division, Bullet Tree drew 2-2 with Hillview in the first of the three games played on Wednesday. David Middleton and Angel Chan scored for Bullet Tree. Akeem Arnold and Jose did so Hillview.
The U-21 Division teams are playing a round robin from which the top two will qualify for the final. On Tuesday, WestLine defeated World FC 4-1.
Like the Over 40, the Open Division teams are playing their quarterfinals.
The San Ignacio-Santa Elena Mayor Earl Trapp Christmas Cup continues on Thursday at the Falcon Field.
