By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 37-year-old chef from Sandhill Village is currently on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being accused of having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old boy twice in one day.
Sherise Shelmadine Moralez, a resident of Mile 19 on the Philip Goldson Highway, appeared before the Chief Magistrate in Court #1 on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She was formally read two indictable counts of unlawful sexual intercourse (USI).
According to police reports, the alleged incidents occurred on July 30, 2026, at Moralez’s home, where she reportedly had sexual intercourse with the boy twice in a single day—once in her bathroom and once in her bedroom. The matter was reported to the Ladyville Police Station on August 6 by the 15-year-old minor in the company of his 46-year-old mother.
Following an investigation, Ladyville Police detained Moralez on August 23. During an interview under caution in the presence of a Justice of the Peace on August 24, Moralez denied all allegations. She was officially charged later that day.
In court, no plea was taken due to the indictable nature of the charges. Defense attorney Orson “OJ” Elrington argued for court discretion regarding bail, contending that the specific act under which Moralez was charged references carnal knowledge of a girl rather than a boy. However, the prosecutor submitted that under the Crime Control and Criminal Justice Act, the minor remains a victim and bail should be withheld.
The Chief Magistrate agreed with the prosecution and denied bail, remanding Moralez to the Belize Central Prison until November 16, 2026, when she is scheduled to receive disclosure in the case. The court noted that if bail is not granted by the High Court within 90 days, the lower court may revisit the bail application at that time.
