By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) will tip off its 2026 season on Friday, February 21, with a double‑header at the Belize City Civic Center, where the league is staging an expanded opening‑night experience featuring giveaways, live entertainment, and fan activities.
The season opens with the San Pedro Tiger Sharks meeting the Cayo Western Ballaz at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Belize City Defenders taking on the Orange Walk Running Rebels at 9:30 p.m. Fans attending the Civic Center will be treated to performances by Super G, appearances by Ozzy the Clown, and the Ministry of Tourism, Youth, Sports & Diaspora Relations $5,000 Shooting Challenge during halftime.
To accommodate early ticket purchases, the Belize City Civic Center ticket booth is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Week 1 continues on Saturday, February 22, when the Belmopan Trojans host the Corozal Spartans at 8:00 p.m. at the UB Gymnasium in Belmopan.

With six teams in action, the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers are the only team inactive on opening weekend. They make their season debut in Week 2.
Additional fixtures are scheduled for February 27–28 in Belmopan, San Ignacio, and Orange Walk.
