By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) begins the 2026 season on Friday, February 21, with a double‑header at the Belize City Civic Center. The league returns under its restored branding after several years of post‑pandemic transitions.
The season tips off with the San Pedro Tiger Sharks taking on the Cayo Western Ballaz at 7:30 pm, followed by the Belize City Defenders meeting the Orange Walk Running Rebels at 9:30 pm at the same venue.
Week 1 concludes on Saturday, February 22, when the Belmopan Trojans host the Corozal Spartans at 8:00 pm at the UB Gymnasium in Belmopan.
Week 2 continues on February 27–28 across three locations. The Trojans welcome the Tiger Sharks on Friday night in Belmopan, while Saturday features the Cayo Western Ballaz hosting the Belize City Defenders in San Ignacio and the Orange Walk Running Rebels facing the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers in Orange Walk.
