By Aaron Humes: Thomas Arriola, 31, and Gabriel Sho, 35, have been charged with attempted murder and face additional charges after robbing the Crown Game Shop on Laguna Drive in San Pedro Town, then attempting to cover their tracks by allegedly setting a fire and stealing the digital video recorder.
ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer, gave details: “The initial investigation suggests that the male persons entered that establishment, where they proceeded to beat and stab Wen Huan Huang, and thereafter they started a fire in the establishment before making good their escape. Police were alerted [to] this fact when residents in the area reported that they observed smoke coming from the building and an injured Huang exiting that property. The officers transported Huang to San Pedro Polyclinic, and personnel from the fire department responded and were able to extinguish the fire.”
ASP Smith added that the accused’s efforts to cover their tracks proved futile: “While the culprits stole the DVR in a bid to conceal evidence, the camera was not damaged and the footage was retrieved, which led police to the identity of the individuals. Both individuals were apprehended thereafter. Arriola was observed, and he sought to evade police, but he was apprehended in the mangrove area, while Sho was apprehended at a location he is known to frequent. Huang underwent surgery and is now listed in a stable condition, and additional charges are now expected to be levied in relation to this incident.”
