By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 45-year-old San Pedro labourer has been charged with possession of a pipe after police allegedly found him smoking from a homemade object during a welfare check.
Police say officers were conducting checks at a residence in the San Juan area around 9:45am on Saturday when they saw a man sitting at the rear of an open wooden structure.
According to the report, the man was holding a shiny silver object and appeared to be smoking from it.
An officer approached, identified himself and took the object.
Police say it was a cigar-shaped item wrapped in aluminium with a burnt tip and dark residue inside, which officers suspected had been used to smoke crack cocaine.
The man was arrested and taken to the San Pedro Police Station.
Police measured and secured the object as evidence.
The 45-year-old labourer was later formally arrested and charged with possession of a pipe.
