By Rubén Morales Iglesias: San Pedro High School’s girls’ basketball team captured the National Secondary Schools Sports Association (NSSSA) Basketball Championship with a hard-fought 16-10 win over Belize City’s Wesley College in the final at Swift Hall, Belize City.
The San Pedro girls demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the tournament. Jahzara Pascual, the standout player for San Pedro High School, was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, leading her team to victory.
Wesley College secured the second-place position as the NSSSA sub-champions, while Georgetown Technical High School claimed third place. Sacred Heart College Hawks finished in fourth place.

Final Standings
- Champions: San Pedro High School
- Runners-Up: Wesley College
- Third Place: Georgetown Technical High School
- Fourth Place: Sacred Heart College (Sacred Heart College Hawks)
Meanwhile Gwen Lizarraga High School won the NSSSA Boys Championship for a second consecutive year in dominant fashion beating Independence High School with an impressive score of 67-37 at Swift Hall.
Congratulations to San Pedro High School and Gwen Lizarraga High School for their impressive victory and to all the teams for their dedicated participation in the tournament.
