By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a fire in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, Belize District, that happened during the course of a robbery.
On Wednesday, December 17, about 10:07 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at Laguna Drive, Boca del Rio area, San Pedro Town. Upon arrival, the owner of a game shop on Laguna Drive rented to a 30-year-old Chinese businessman, told police that minutes earlier, an employee had alerted him that smoke was coming from the premises. The Chinese businessman was observed exiting the shop and thereafter collapsing.
He was transported to the clinic and later transferred to Belize City for further medical treatment. Personnel from the Belize National Fire Service extinguished the fire.
