By Aaron Humes: Police have spoken to a man allegedly involved in an incident in San Pedro Town, highlighting issues of workplace harassment and the use of social media for harmful communication.

On January 4, a business owner and the complainant, while socializing with her colleagues, answered a WhatsApp call on behalf of one of her friends from her common-law partner. After informing him that she would soon be home, she received a barrage of aggressive messages, including derogatory language regarding her involvement in their relationship.

The situation escalated further on January 15, when the complainant agreed to assist her co-worker and friend by transferring funds from her bank account to the common-law’s account. Due to a name error, the transfer was delayed, prompting him to text her with more unpleasant remarks, including a demand for his money accompanied by offensive language.

Feeling humiliated and harassed, she filed a formal complaint. Police picked up and detained the common-law for questioning. An investigation is currently underway, and an iPhone 12 Mini belonging to the accused has been seized as evidence.
