By Breaking Belize News Staff: A late-night fishing trip ended in tragedy for a San Pablo villager, after 19-year-old Daniel Bulum drowned in a river near the village.
Police were called to the scene shortly after midnight and found Bulum’s body lying face up with fish tied to his waist.
He had reportedly gone fishing earlier that night with companions Miguel Batz and Rolando Xol.
According to the men, Bulum had ventured about 100 yards away from them when he suddenly submerged and did not resurface. They attempted to rescue him, but he was unresponsive when pulled from the water.
Bulum’s body was identified by his brother, 25-year-old Nelson Bulum.
His body was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital Morgue, where a post-mortem examination is pending.
