BY Rubén Morales Iglesias: With the second leg of the 2K series coming up this Sunday, San Jose Pumas head to Mango Creek carrying a 2–0 advantage after defeating Old Forest Bluechips in the opening match at Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk.
The Pumas earned their victory through goals from Justin Cardenas and Mickey Cruz, whose finishes gave the Orange Walk sub‑champions a strong start to the two‑match series. Now, they will “return the courtesy” as they travel south to face the Bluechips on their home turf.
Pumas Look to Close Out the Series
San Jose Pumas enter the return match with the experience of a team that has reached four consecutive OWFA finals. Their structure, intensity, and identity were evident in the first leg, and Sunday’s game offers another opportunity to sharpen their form ahead of the OWFA Closing Season.
A strong performance in Mango Creek would cap off a promising pre‑season for the Orange Walk side.
Bluechips Aim to Respond at Home
For Old Forest Bluechips, Sunday’s match is a chance to regroup and show their growth as a young but ambitious Mid‑South club. Established in 2025, the Bluechips continue to build their program, and hosting a northern powerhouse like the Pumas is another important step in their development.
Playing at Michael Ashcroft Stadium gives them the perfect platform to push for a comeback.
