By Rubén Morales Iglesias: San Jose Pumas will join Progresso FC in the Clash of the North Final, despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to Sarteneja FC on June 8 at the Carolina Football Field in Carolina, Corozal.
The match saw Alex Ortiz score the decisive goal in the 68th minute, keeping Sarteneja’s hopes alive. However, Pumas edged Sarteneja, who had lost 3-0 the previous week to Progresso, on goal difference, securing their place in the final despite the setback.
Before their loss, San Jose Pumas had dominated Calcutta Bulls with a commanding 3-0 victory, which ultimately played a crucial role in their qualification. Their offensive strength will now be put to the test in the championship match.
With the top two teams hailing from Orange Walk, the final will take place in People’s Stadium on June 15, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., where Pumas will battle Progresso FC for the northern champions title and a $2,000 cash prize, while the runners-up walk away with $1,000.
