By Zoila Palma: A San Ignacio resident is urging neighbours to remain vigilant after an attempted robbery at her home in the area in the early hours of Monday morning.
Santos Tesecum said that the incident occurred while they were asleep.
She said that her daughter woke to find a person at her bedroom window; her loud call for help frightened the suspect, who fled before neighbours or police could apprehend him. Tesecum said some nearby homes later reported missing items.
Tesecum thanked the San Ignacio police for responding quickly, noting officers were on regular patrol and arrived at the scene promptly.
Tesecum is calling on residents of San Ignacio and Santa Elena to form neighbourhood groups and share contact numbers with close neighbours to improve emergency response and help deter crime.
