By Rubén Morales Iglesias: San Estevan Youngsters edged Progresso FC Amateur 4-3 in a penalty shootout to claim the Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) Under 15 2024-2025 Opening Championship at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on Saturday.
After an evenly matched contest that ended 0-0 in regulation and extra time, San Estevan Youngsters displayed composure under pressure, triumphing 4-3 and claiming the championship title. Progresso FC ended up as well-deserving sub-champions after their valiant effort.
The third-place match also delivered drama as Trinidad Football Club came from behind to defeat Atletico Belize 2-1.
The Orange Walk Football Association extended congratulations to all the winning teams and participants.
“We would like to congratulate San Estevan Youngsters for their outstanding performances and for being crowned champions,” the OWFA said
“A special mention goes to the sub-champions, Progresso FC (U15), as well as the third-place winners, Trinidad FC. To all participating teams, your commitment and effort are what make our championships memorable.”
The OWFA said the U15 Closing Championship is expected to kick off soon.
