By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Sagitun GIRLZ earned their first point of the 2026 Westline Premier Women’s League Closing Season with a dramatic 1–1 draw against defending champions Napoles FC on Saturday night at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village.
Napoles, who were coming off a 2–2 draw with Corozal Elite in Week 1, took the lead in the 38th minute through Khalydia Velasquez, giving the champions a 1–0 advantage at halftime.
But the Sagi GIRLZ refused to let the match slip away. Their pressure paid off late when Jurshia Zúñiga struck the equalizer in the 86th minute, sending the home crowd into celebration and securing a valuable point.
The result leaves Napoles FC on two points after two draws, while SAGITUN GIRLZ move to one point after rebounding from last week’s 2–1 loss to Jewel Fury.
