Sagitun GIRLZ, Jewel Fury, Napoles win by blowouts in National Amateur Women’s League over Cayo Dreamers, Verdes Rebels, Caribbean Tire

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The top three teams in the National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL), the Sagitun GIRLZ, Jewel Fury, and Napoles ran over their opponents this past weekend.

Led by captain Sabrina Eiley with a more than amazing ten goals, third-place and present subchampions, Sagitun GIRLZ, rolled over the Cayo Dreamers 18-0 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday night.

A minute of silence was observed at the beginning of the match in memory of Twile Eiley, Sabrina Eiley’s father who passed away last Tuesday and was laid to rest earlier that day in Placencia. Sabrina explained on social media that she played the game in honour of her father who she had promised to score two goals the previous week. Being unable to do so then, she wanted to fulfill her promise after his passing away. She more than delivered.

Across at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium, NAWL champions Jewel Fury ripped Verdes Rebels 9-0 on four goals by Elva Nunes, two each by Jennisha Scott and Shaylalee Flowers, and one from Mariela González.

In the other weekend game, Belmopan’s Napoles also routed Caribbean Tire 8-1.
