Roque Matus wins 1st Barbara Robateau Memorial Race

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: M&M Engineering’s Roque Matus captured the top spot in the first Barbara Robateau Memorial Race in a heated sprint by the Belize City Civic Center on Sunday.

Matus won the race, which started at the Spanish Lookout Roundabout on the George Price Highway and finished on Central American Boulevard by the Belize City Civic Center. The race diverted at Hattieville and took the Burrell Boom Road, coming out on the Philip Goldson Highway to reach Belize City.

Though Matus rides in the Masters B Category, he was the overall winner. He was followed by Kenroy ‘Smokes Gladden, and five other A Category riders: Kent ‘Bob’ Gabourel (3rd), Tariq Flowers (4th), Jose Choto (5th), Philip Leslie (6th), and Jairo Campos (7th).
