By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean cyclists Kent ‘Bob’ Gabourel and Robert Liam Stewart placed fourth in the Men’s Time Trial in their Masters categories while Roque Matus finished ninth in his on Tuesday at the Pan-American Masters Games in Cleveland Ohio.
Robert Liam Stewart finished fourth out of 24 in the Time Trial in the 55-59 Category clocking 28:37. He rode across the finish line 39 seconds behind winner, American Michael Garcia, who was timed at 27.58 at a speed of 26.60 mph. Stewart’s average was 25.99 mph.
20 riders finished the time trial.
On Monday, Stewart finished tenth in the Criterium with the same time as Fitzgerald ‘Palas’ Joseph, who was ninth. Joseph didn’t compete on Tuesday but will ride the Road Race on Wednesday.

Gabourel, who also finished fourth in the Criterium on Monday, finished the 12.40-mile race in 29 minutes and 22 seconds (29:22) in the 40-44 Years-of-Age Men’s Masters Category. He was three minutes and 47 seconds behind winner, American Derek Van Hoose, who clocked 25:35 at a speed of 29.08 miles per hour (mph). Gabourel’s average was 25:33 mph.
Eight of 12 riders finished the time trial.

Roque Matus took ninth place in the 50-54 Category Time Trial with a time of 30:22, 4:39 behind winner, Mexican Omar Gómez, who clocked 25.43 for the 12.40-mile event. Gómez averaged 28.92 mph while Matus averaged 24.49 mph.
Fourteen of 17 riders completed the time trial.
On Wednesday, all four Belizean riders will compete in the Road Race.
