By Aaron Humes: In a brazen afternoon robbery, a food vendor was held at gunpoint outside his home on Saturday, around 5:20 PM, by two men while he was in the front yard of his residence located in the Lake Gardens area of Ladyville, Belize District.
According to the vendor’s account, the assailants arrived on a red motorcycle, with one man dressed in a black shirt and the other in a red shirt. The man in the black shirt brandished a firearm and demanded money. With no other option, he surrendered $3,000 in cash along with his light blue iPhone Pro Max, valued at approximately $2,300.
The culprits then forced Usher to lie on the ground near his 1999 black Dodge Ram pickup truck. The second suspect ransacked the vehicle but left with nothing significant. However, they did manage to grab a camouflage sling bag containing an additional $130 that was located on a picnic table nearby before fleeing the scene on their motorcycle. The total estimated value of the stolen items amounts to $5,430. However, his stolen iPhone was later found near mile 11 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.
Police are urging anyone with information related to the robbery to come forward as they continue to investigate the matter.
