By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating the fatal shooting of 33-year-old construction worker Ricky Dawson Jr. in Santa Elena Town on Friday night.
At about 8:45 p.m. on July 10, police responded to reports of an injured person on San Leopold Street. Officers found Dawson’s motionless body inside a drain, approximately 100 yards from his home. He had suffered a gunshot wound and a broken leg.
Initial investigations indicate that Dawson had arrived home at around 8:20 p.m. and received a telephone call. While he was outside answering the call, a black SUV reportedly drove along the street in his direction and its occupants fired several shots at him.
Dawson, a resident of the Santa Cruz Area of Santa Elena Town, was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police investigations continue.
