By Zoila Palma: Residents of Red Bank took part in a hands-on backyard gardening training session on Wednesday, aimed at strengthening household food security through sustainable practices. The workshop focused on nutrition, poultry, and vegetable production.

The training was led by representatives from the Progressive Sugar Cane Producers Association and the Resilient Rural Belize Project.

It forms part of ongoing efforts to build resilience in rural communities by encouraging self-sufficiency and healthier food choices.

Organizers reported strong community turnout, particularly from women and youth, signaling growing interest in homegrown food production and its role in reducing dependence on external food sources.

The session is one of several initiatives under the Resilient Rural Belize Project that aim to support climate-smart agriculture and empower rural families to improve their livelihoods through practical, sustainable methods.
