By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 23-year-old Belize City man, Dion Parham, has been banned from driving for one year after pleading guilty to multiple traffic offenses, including driving without a valid license or insurance but that didn’t stop him from leaving court on his motorcycle.
Parham, a “run man” by trade and a resident of Arlington Drive, was caught on March 23, 2025, riding an unlicensed Lifan motorcycle on Jane Usher Boulevard without third-party risk insurance or a valid driver’s license. When he appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, he admitted to all charges.
In his defense, Parham told the Senior Magistrate that he lost his driver’s license while running errands the day before the incident and had not realized it was missing. However, the court was not swayed by his explanation, especially since this was his second conviction for driving without insurance.
Parham was handed several penalties. He was disqualified from driving for one year, effective immediately. He was fined $105 for driving without a valid driver’s license, payable by July 30, 2025, or face one month in prison. He was also fined $55 for using an unlicensed vehicle, payable by July 15, 2025, or face two weeks in prison. Finally, he was fined $255 for driving without insurance, payable by June 30, 2025, or face two months in prison.
Additionally, the court found that Parham owed $210 in outstanding fines from previous infractions. He was allowed to leave on the condition that he return the next day to pay at least $50 toward his debt.
However, in a blatant defiance of the court’s ruling, Parham was seen speeding off on his motorcycle just minutes after exiting the courthouse, despite being officially disqualified from driving.
