By Zoila Palma: Sylvan Roberts Jr. was a beloved son of Santa Elena Town, an ultra-sound technician at La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital, a husband, a father and a son.
Roberts was brutally murdered during a home invasion on December 23, 2011 at his home in Santa Elena, Cayo.
Today, Senator Collet Montejo joined in honoring Sylvan’s memory as the community remembers how it lost a champion.
“December 23 brings with it vivid, real memories of that night we lost a champion, a friend, a son, a husband, and a brother to home invasion and gun violence. Sylvan Roberts Jr. was in no way ordinary. He had a heart like no other. His life emanated love, patience, and commitment. He was never about himself. He was very good at what he did, undeniably one of the best, if not the best ultrasound technician,” Senator Montejo said.
“Too many in Belize and all over have this nostalgic feeling when this season comes around. We miss those who for many years were an integral part of our Christmas and our lives. May our Lord who we celebrate bring strength and hope to us all. May the tears we shed in the memory of our loved ones grant us the comfort we seek. May they all rest in peace as we await that great getting up morning when we will see them again. Until then…continue to RIP Syl,” Senator Montejo added.
The Santa Elena Community remembers Roberts for his legacy as a devoted Christian.
