By Horace Palacio: Belize is set to experience relatively moist conditions today, as forecasted by the Belize Meteorological Service. Residents in northern and central areas can expect cloudy spells accompanied by a few showers or periods of light rain throughout the day. By tonight, these weather patterns will shift primarily to coastal areas.
The 24-hour forecast indicates that temperatures across the country will remain seasonally mild. Coastal regions will see highs around 80°F (27°C) and lows dipping to 69°F (21°C). Inland temperatures will peak at 82°F (28°C), with a cooler night minimum of 63°F (17°C). In the hills, the temperatures will range from 70°F (21°C) during the day to 59°F (15°C) at night.
Marine conditions are relatively calm, with winds blowing from the north to northwest at 5-10 knots. The sea state is slight, and waves are expected to range between 1-3 feet. This makes for favorable conditions for small craft activity, despite occasional light rain.
Looking ahead, the forecast for Thursday and Thursday night suggests a continuation of isolated showers or periods of light rain, primarily along the coastal areas. The Belize Met Service advises residents and visitors to stay prepared for intermittent rainfall but assures that these conditions are not severe.
